Is my Hinge account shadowbanned?
By the bestsideofyou teamLast updated
Probably not. Hinge hasn't said that it shadowbans accounts, and when an account breaks the rules it's normally removed, not quietly hidden. When likes drop to zero, the cause is usually more ordinary: narrow settings, a small area, or a profile that isn't giving people a reason to stop scrolling. Work through those first.
The checklist
Account
- I haven't received any warning or notice from Hinge
- I can still log in, see profiles and send likes
- I haven't been reported for anything I'd recognize as breaking the rules
Settings
- My age range, distance and dealbreakers aren't narrower than I really need
- My location is right, and I haven't paused or hidden my profile by mistake
Profile
- My first photo is a clear, recent photo of just me
- My prompts have specific answers, not one-word ones
- My photos show more than one kind of moment
Rule out your settings
Narrow age ranges, short distances and hard dealbreakers all shrink who can see you. So does a profile you paused and forgot about. These take a minute to check and are the most common reason a profile goes quiet.
Then look at the profile
If your settings are fine, the profile is the next suspect. A first photo that's dark, distant or shared with friends makes people scroll past. Answers that say very little give them nothing to like.
Lots of things honestly.
Old maps. I own a 1930s road atlas of Ohio and I've driven three routes that don't exist anymore.
Answers to “The key to my heart is” or “A life goal of mine” work best with one real, small detail. Game prompts like “Two truths and a lie” are the easiest for people to reply to.
What to change first
- 1Check your settings and that your profile isn't paused.
- 2Replace your first photo with your clearest recent one.
- 3Rewrite your weakest prompt with one specific detail.
Check your rewritten answers with the prompt checker before you post them.
Questions people ask
Does Hinge shadowban people?
Hinge hasn't said that it shadowbans accounts, and we can't see inside the app. Accounts that break the rules can be removed. If that happened, you'd normally be told or unable to use the app.
Should I make a new account?
We can't promise it helps, and you lose your matches. Starting over may also go against Hinge's terms if your account was removed. Fix the profile you have first.
Why did I get likes at first and then none?
Many people notice more likes in their first days. Hinge hasn't explained why. A drop after that is common and usually isn't a ban.
